Camping in Switzerland? Yes, Lets!

Matt decided it was time that we owned a really nice, family sized tent. Of course, when you buy a new tent you have to take a camping trip ASAP. Since we've lived here I've had it in my head that if you're going to camp, you should probably do it in Switzerland. So we googled, found a great area to camp in, invited some friends to join us for the adventure, grocery shopped and prepared, and made the 7 hour drive to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland. Weird right? When I lived in California a 7 hour drive got me to St. George, Utah. Now to it gets me to the Swiss Alps. Love it. Anyways, the area was AMAZING. One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. We all had a great time and we can't wait to go back for round two. It was that great.

Our tent, minivan, and dog. Like the location? It was so wonderful to wake up to every morning.

A picture of the kids from inside of the tent. We were totally surrounded by cliffs and waterfalls.

This was a trail right above our camping spot.
Photobucket
Such a beautiful stroll.

The view from our camping spot.

walk up to a little waterfall slash sheer cliff. Notice all the adults death grips on the kids to keep them from falling.

Cute kids.

Every houses' windows and balconies were lines with flower boxes. So cute. Can't wait to have my own house with my own flower boxes.

Waterfall that we hiked up to.

Hiking up to the waterfall.

Family picture. Awwww. :)

We took this picture on the train on the way up (13,642ft/4158m) Jungfraujoch Glacier. "The Top of Europe". We all got altitude sickness of some sort. Everyone got headaches, and Hallie almost threw up because it was so high.
Photobucket
It was weird going from summer time at our camping spot, to winter time at the top of the mountain.
Photobucket
The views were spectacular.
Photobucket
It was SUPER cold though.
Photobucket
Chase LOVED getting to ride this Swiss cow. :)
Photobucket
While we were up on the Glacier we got to explore the ice caves. They were way way cool. No pun intended. :)
Photobucket
Chase, chillin in an ice cave. Again, no pun intended.

Hallie trying to stay warm.

Matt went out to walk on the Glacier and nearly slid off a cliff. Our friends Dave that was out there with him said it was way scary. Matt laughed. Of course he laughed. Good thing he has life insurance. Does that cover falling off of glaciers?

Matt in a blizzard.

We also hiked up into a mountain near where we were camping to see a bunch of waterfalls that ran through the inside of the mountain. This was probably my favorite slash most amazing thing we did.
Photobucket
It reminded me a little bit of Goonies. :)

Photobucket
Taking our family pic again. The dog was terrified to be in these caves. It was pretty funny.

Matt and the kids checking out the wonders of a waterfall.

This is what I woke up to every morning. Gloooorious! (Said in my best opera voice)
Photobucket
Interlaken. This lake was the coolest color ever. All mountain run off.

Camping is even better when you get to cozy up in a sleeping bag with a handsome guy like this one.

I wanna go! Looks amazing. As much as I said I never wanted a mini van, I think we'll have to purchase one for such vacations once we have number 2 kiddo.
