So for about a year now we've been having issues with Hallie getting out of bed (sometimes 2 or 3 times a night) saying "I can't find my water! " or "I can't find my binki". Then us telling her "turn on your LIGHT and look for it." Then her crying and demanding and insisting that one of us go and help her find it. Because neither of us are in our right mind at 3 in the morning....one of us usually ends up going to help her just so we can get back to sleep. And now, for the past few weeks, we've been getting a 5:45 am wake up call on top of being woken up during the night.
soooooooo
Matt came up with an ingenious idea! He went and bought a CD player/alarm clock for Hallie's room. He made a CD of classical music and set her alarm for 7:45. We put and extra binki and an extra cup of water on her dresser. Then we explained to her that she is absolutely NOT allowed out of her bedroom until she hears the music in the morning. We told her it is a magical music box and it knows when she is allowed to get out bed. And if she gets out of bed before that..... BIG TROUBLE. Two days now....no nighttime wake ups (at least she's not waking US up) and she hasn't gotten out of bed until the music goes off. She even stayed in bed until 8:30 this morning listening to the music. Let's hope it sticks....but for now, Matt wins the creative Dad of the year award!

That is a great idea Matt!! Way to GO!!!
God willing I ever get married and have kids, I am coming to you two for advice!
I was just thinking...your kids are like little sun bunnies, but they also look like they could pass for germans, too. Way to go, totally adaptable kids!
Hey way to go. Or should i say way to go until the next round of something. With kids its always a matter of trying to keep one step ahead. Love you all. MOm Horrocks
Brilliant, please let me know if you have potty training advice... For my nephew of course.
So smart!! That's very nice of you to be willing to get up at 7:45. I'm gonna try for 9:30 when I have kids. I think that will totally work. (=
AWESOME!! Love the idea. And I love even more when one of us parents can come up with something that actually seems to work. Go Matt! And yeah for both of you :)
I love that your kids will sleep in. I totally lose out on that one. We are up at 6am at our house (since the sun is out by then. I love it when we have darker mornings, it means more sleep for me.) And all I really ask for is 7am. I function much happier at 7am than 6am.
NO WAY!! Why have I never ever ever heard of this before?!?!?! That is the best thing ever! I have been lucky enough to have kids that sleep til 10, but if I ever have an early riser, youd better believe i will use this! How awesome!!!
That's great! Congrats for being so creative!
yay matt! thats a good idea. I just may have to use that one!
That's awesome! Good idea. Ella has that shirt Hallie has on. Thank you Target. =)
