Wild Ride...
So on Thursday I called Ramstein Air Base (about three hours away from us) to see if they had any military flights heading to California in the next week. They told me they had one leaving at 3 a.m. Saturday morning. Soooooo, I started packing. We left Friday afternoon and got a room on the base. Woke the kids up at 2 a.m. and went to the terminal in hope that we would get on this stand by flight. Well, we did! It was a pretty crazy experience. We flew on a cargo plane where there were 6 other passengers besides ourselves. We brought our sleeping bags and once we reached cruising altitude, made ourselves cozy beds on the floor. It was so awesome. The kids could run around on the plane, lay on our beds to take naps, play with the other kids on the flight. Some people even had air mattresses. I'm telling you...this is the only way to travel. So we stopped for about 2 hours in New Jersey to refuel, then headed to Riverside to March Air Reserve Base (only an hour from my parents) where my Dad picked us up and headed home. From the time we left our house on Friday to drive to Ramstein to the time when we arrived in Riverside was about 32 hours. Needless to say I was BADLY sleep deprived by the time we got here....but we got here. We've just been having a good time with family for the past few days and are looking forward to my sisters and their kids arriving this weekend. I have some cool pics from the plane, but no cable to connect the camera to the computer. So those will have to come later. Anyways, we're back in America and LOVING the warmth. Pics to come....

Yea that you made it!! That does sound like a crazy ride . . .but pretty awesome too. Do you get to fly like that for free too? Either way, pretty awesome. Glad you made it here safely and hopefully you are catching up on some sleep now. Can't wait to see you at Kelly's wedding next weekend :)
Sounds like a long ride. About the door bell ditchers... you should have given them the ol' fire extinguisher, and the mother too. Just for ol' time sake.
That totally sounds like the way to travel..minus the "last-minuteness". I can just imagine how nice it is to be here with your family. What is the thing you missed most, but that you have now that you're back in America?
