Re-Hashing the Issue
So some new "things" have come to light about our decision to move. Our landlord offered to drop our rent 200 dollars a month if we stay. Matt get's a raise in our housing pay of 80 dollars a month (if we move to base, we don't get that money. You don't get housing pay when you live on the base). Matt gets a raise of 80 dollars a month in his regular pay in January. So we crunched the numbers again. Here's how we came out..... we will now save 220 dollars a month to move on to the base. (two raises and a two hundred dollar cut in rent). That equals about 2000 dollars over a year (if we're here for that long). If we move out now we lose our deposit (1300 dollars). Soooooooo financially we're pretty much in the same boat if we stay or if we go. So convenience? Ugh, it's inconvenient to live here....but also inconvenient to lose a bedroom, bathroom, garage, dishwasher, and have to move all of our stuff again! Plus this is a new house we live in, which is really nice. So see the new issues......I don't even know what to do now. help!

Meh. That kind of makes it's sixes financially, so you just need to decide [personally. For me, if the housing on base is OK, and you know you'll be happier socially, I'd still think seriously about it. And of course, it wouldn't hurt to consult the big man upstairs on such issues!
drink a diet coke and see what it tells you... **wink **wink
That makes things more difficult... I've never been there and have no military experience, so really I am no help. Sorry and good luck! :)
Good luck! Whatever you decide, make the best of it! (and don't drink a diet coke! Stay strong!! :) )
I don't think you are getting much help on this one. Sadly enough I think I would just stay. But, I also am not making the decision and who knows really what I would do either. I am kind of a frugal person. But, I also really don't like moving. Tuff decision!
remember how excited you were to live next to all your friends? i know its hard to leave all the comforts of life, but if the air force will store it all for you, why not go be by your friends. and did you count all you would be saving in gas money and time in the caluclations?
That is a difficult one...however moving won't be as big as the last time. This time you'll have more hands and less miles. Stay away from the Diet Coke, pick up a glass of ice water, and do some soul searching. Oh yeah, give Matt a big, fat, sloppy, wet, kiss for me.
